Zhangjiajie
Zhangjiajie is a breathtaking destination in China, famous for its towering sandstone pillars that inspired the landscapes in the movie Avatar. Located in Hunan Province, it’s home to the world-renowned Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, where mist-covered peaks and dramatic cliffs create a surreal, otherworldly atmosphere.
Chengdu
Chengdu, the vibrant capital of Sichuan Province, is a city known for its laid-back charm, spicy cuisine, and rich cultural heritage. Famous for being the home of the beloved giant panda, Chengdu also offers a mix of ancient temples, tea houses, and bustling markets. With its unique blend of history and modernity, it’s the perfect place to indulge in Sichuan’s famous hotpot, stroll through traditional alleyways, and experience the warmth of local hospitality.
Guangzhou
My two-day adventure in Guangzhou was a mix of nostalgia and discovery. I stayed in the same hotel my parents visited back in 1998, which was a comforting connection to the past as I explored the city. My highlights included visiting a nearby mountain to soak in the panoramic skyline, riding the Canton Tower Bubble Tram with breathtaking views, and gliding along the Pearl River on a peaceful night cruise.
Two days weren’t nearly enough to take it all in, but one thing is certain—I’ll be back to experience more of this dynamic city.
where to next?
The end of my time here in China is winding down and there are a few places left that I plan to visit. The next big trip will likely be out of the country through. Keep an eye out on my Instagram for real-time travel adventures.
